Project Highlight

UC Berkeley, Tolman Hall Seismic Replacement

CEL provided special inspections and materials testing services on the new Tolman Hall Seismic Replacement Project, Berkeley Way.

The Berkeley Way project is a 340,000-square-foot building, with the first five floors built-out to house UC Berkeley’s Schools of Psychology and Public Health. The top three floors are shell space that will be leased out by the university.

CEL’s scope included a full-time resident inspector as well as additional field and shop inspectors. Inspections included shop and field welding inspection, pre-cast inspection, concrete placement and sampling, concrete testing, and micropile grout placement inspection and testing.
