Los Vaqueros Reservoir Expansion Project

CEL, along with its sister company Geosphere Consultants, completed earthwork and materials testing for the expansion of Los Vaqueros Reservoir in Contra Costa County, CA.

The scope of work included a full-time on-site laboratory as well as field personnel to perform density testing using both nuclear gauge and sand cone density test methods. The work required a high level of coordination with the project contractor, Barnard Construction, the project designer, URS Corporation and the ultimate client, The Contra Costa Water District. The project included extensive field quality control due to the complex nature of a zoned embankment dam.

Services provided all required materials testing for soil field compaction, aggregates, CLSM, reinforced concrete and miscellaneous structural materials. In addition, CEL provided concrete, masonry, anchor/dowel installation, and welding inspections for the new buildings and support facilities. CEL provided an included an site laboratory for immediate test results.
