Bill is the leader of the Geotechnical Engineering department. He is a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer with a pragmatic approach to problem resolution. His innovative designs have saved owners hundreds of thousands of dollars over the course of construction, on a multitude of projects. He continually looks for avenues that will produce overall construction savings while maintaining the necessary safety factors from an engineering standpoint. His knowledge and style make him an asset to any project team. In addition to his strong education which includes an undergraduate degree in civil engineering and a graduate degree in geological engineering, he has attended seismic response analysis seminars and has a strong capability in this arena.

Representative Projects

San Jose Marriott; San Jose, CA
A 28-story Marriott hotel located in downtown San Jose. Oversaw pile driving operations of over 550 piles. Performed cone penetrometer tests to substantially reduce pile lengths, resulting in significant cost savings to the owner.
Cal State University - East Bay; Hayward, CA
Performed geotechnical investigation and follow-up field work for over 6 building projects at the Cal State East Bay campus located in Hayward.
Kaiser Hospital; Santa Rosa, CA
Six story addition to an existing hospital along with a new parking structure and several outlying buildings. Under his direction, CEL performed the preliminary geotechnical investigation and field verification.
