FIRESTOPPING

CEL provides special inspection of Firestop as required by CBC sections 714 and 715. Our inspectors are trained to perform inspections on Firestops per ASTM E2174 and E2393 standards.

  • ASTM E2174: Standard Practice for onsite Inspection of Installed Firestops.
  • ASTM E2393: Standard Practice for onsite Inspection of Installed Fire Resistive Joint Systems and Perimeter Fire Barriers.
  • Verify that Through Penetrations and Membrane Penetrations are protected by an approved penetration firestop system.
  • Verify that Joints installed in or between fire-resistance-rated walls, floor or floor/ceiling, assemblies and roofs or roof/ceiling assemblies shall be protected by an approved fire-resistant joint system.
  • Verify that where fire-resistance-rated floor or floor/ceiling assemblies are required, voids created at the intersection of the exterior Curtain Wall assemblies and floor assemblies shall be sealed with an approved system to prevent the interior spread of fire.
  • Firestop inspectors are required to pass online exam to receive Premier Certificate from IFC (International Firestop Council).
  • Firestop inspectors also attend IFC Hands-On How-To-Inspect Firestopping Seminar which includes Multi-Manufacturer Firestop Product Training.
  • Firestop inspectors are certified through lntertek Qualified Firestop Inspector Program (IQP) as required by OSHPD for firestop inspection in new buildings and additions.
