SONY IMAX ENTERTAINMENT RETAIL CENTER
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA
This highly complex five-story, 400,000 square foot structure was built directly atop the Marriott
ballroom trusses. CEL assisted in the early investigation phase of this project in which weldment
evaluation of existing welds was performed in accordance with new guidelines from the Structural Engineers Association of
Northern California. CEL mobilized inspection staff for three steel fabrication facilities in Eastern Canada. These facilities operated 24 hours a day, 7
days a week and CEL was able to accommodate this aggressive schedule. To ensure contract compliance, CEL
developed a more stringent reporting system outlining details of each specific connection.
