1000 VAN NESS
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA

Consolidated Engineering Laboratories provided all of the materials testing and special inspection services associated with this complex seismic retrofit and expansion project. As many as three inspectors were on-site during heavy construction. The lead inspector, Mark Reaume did such an outstanding job that he received CEL's Inspector of the Year Award in 1998. This project was extremely challenging due to the nature of the as-built conditions that were encountered which required constant interaction with the structural engineer of record. In addition, this was one of the first San Francisco projects to have smoke control ordinance, enforced requiring special inspection of duct work and testing of installation. CEL performed all services on this multi-phase project, coordinating with the building and fire departments and multiple engineers due to the multi-tenant configuration of the building.
