4TH AND SAN FERNANDO
SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA

This $40 Million parking structure located at 4th & San Fernando is unique in both its design and utilization. A 7-story post-tensioned concrete parking garage comprising approximately 350,000 square feet was built on this site. On the upper level there is a banquet hall composed of a lightweight steel frame. The foundation work consisted of approximately 3½ months of auger grouted cast pile work requiring continuous inspection of all installation activities. The shear walls on the project were designed for high compressive strength values, as high as 12,000 PSI on the lower levels. Consolidated Engineering Laboratories (CEL) set up an on-site curing facility to ensure the facilitation the initial 24-hour curing process.

Of Special Interest:
  • Developed on-site concrete curing facility for 12,000 psi concrete in conjunction with the Ready- Mix supplier.
  • Worked closely with the City to document non-compliance of relevant issues for possible backcharge.
  • Coordinated daily construction activities with San Jose Public Works Inspectors.
