Since 1989, Consolidated Engineering Laboratories has been contracted to provide special inspections and materials testing services for all plant modifications and new construction. NUMMI has on-going plant modifications such as new conveyor lines, hoist mechanisms and internal alterations that have structural elements. NUMMI also has new major construction of various types such as the truck manufacturing facility, stamping plant and phase two expansion, plastics manufacturing plant, paint building and production car test track. CEL has one full-time inspector at the plant performing all aspects of CEL services and assisting the NUMMI engineering staff. During major construction periods, CEL provides the required staff to meet all testing and inspection needs.
