COMMUNITY HOSPITAL OF MONTEREY
MONTEREY, CALIFORNIA

Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP) project was a remodel and expansion of an existing facility. The new pavilions were cut into an existing slope, utilizing subterranean masonry construction and spread footing foundations. The structure, being structural steel, integrated with masonry and concrete walls. The exterior of the buildings was covered with GFRC panels. CEL performed structural steel and GFRC fabrications at off-site locations. On-site inspections included welding, masonry, concrete, and proofload testing. This project was issued 14 different OSHPD numbers for construction. CEL tracked each activity and reported separately to each number.
