Since 1988, Consolidated Engineering Laboratories has been awarded continuous on-call contracts to
provide the Port of Oakland with inspection and testing services for all ongoing construction. The
projects have included new construction and repairs involving utilities and roadway relocations, the new
Amtrak Station and 5-story parking structure at Jack London Square, berth renovations and repairs,
complex soil dikes, taxiway and runway reconstruction and modernization and airport terminal expansion.
CEL is particularly proud of the work we performed at the Oakland International Airport following the
Loma Prieta earthquake, at which time our field and laboratory personnel worked around the clock for 10
days to reopen the damaged runways. In addition, CEL has provided full-time Resident Inspectors during
peak construction cycles, some as long as two to three years, to accommodate the Port of Oakland's
construction needs. Our scope of testing and inspection services has encompassed all aspects of the
Port's construction.
