NATIONAL IGNITION FACILITY

This $260 million, 7-acre National Ignition Facility "NIF" was completed on schedule and within its allocated budget. NIF is 704 feet long, 403 feet wide and 85 feet tall, approximately the size of a football stadium, and consists of three connected buildings. There was approximately 73,000 cubic yards of concrete placed, 12,700 tons of structural steel and rebar and 210,000 cubic yards of earth that was moved on this monumental project. Consolidated Engineering Laboratories performed all required materials testing and special inspection services for the National Ignition Facility.
