For the last eleven years, CEL has played a dominant quality assurance role at Lawrence Berkeley
Laboratory (LBL). Providing quality assurance on a Department of Energy facility is no easy task, and
CEL has proven itself time and time again to be up to the task. CEL has worked and coordinated with
LBL inspection personnel and construction management personnel in order to facilitate the construction
of both major and minor projects. Over the course of the last eleven years, CEL has provided full-time
Resident Inspectors for durations of several years at a time. Our Resident Inspector has performed
construction oversight and acted in a lead role far beyond the role typical of a Special Inspector.
However, in addition, CEL has rendered all the materials testing and special inspection services over the
last eleven years. Notable in recent history is the work that was performed at the $40 Million Molecular
Foundry Project which included steel fabrication in two separate states operating nearly around the clock.
Our field team performed inspection activities that included soils compaction, reinforced concrete,
shotcrete, structural steel, epoxy doweling installation, and fireproofing.
Over the past eleven years, CEL has been awarded the LBL contract on four separate occasions, and has
recently had its existing contract extended twice.
